Compliance Framework
AML/CTF Program Development
Under new laws commencing in July 2026, your practice needs to develop your own
AML/CTF program outlining how your practice intends to meet its obligations under the law.
This includes developing your own operational policies and procedures and mitigating
identified risks in specific areas such as:
- Defining AML roles and responsibilities
- Staff due diligence and training
- Initial customer due diligence
- Ongoing and pre-commencement customer due diligence
- Escalation and reporting
- Tipping off
- Terminating the retainer
- Maintaining your AML/CTF program
- Effectiveness checks and independent evaluations
- Record keeping
- Austrac involvement
We can help you tailor and develop a program that suits your practice and existing
arrangements, ensuring you can demonstrate compliance to AUSTRAC.
Risk Analysis
Risk Assessment
Your practice needs to have a money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation
financing risk assessment. A risk assessment will help your practice identify and assess
risks about the:
- Services your provide
- Clients and jurisdictions you deal with
- Delivery channels you use to provide services
You will need to identify specific risks, assess and rate these risks (high / medium / low) and
define controls that are proportionate to the level of risk you identify.
Your risk assessment should also identify indicators of unusual or criminal behaviour and
how your staff should respond if such behaviours are recognised.
We will help you develop a risk assessment and management plan that will define and
assess all likely risks specific to your practice, identify the risks that are acceptable, and/or
how you will avoid those risks that are unacceptable.
Training
AML Training
AML/CTF risk awareness training is compulsory for every practice that has obligations under
the AML/CTF Act.
We can develop and deliver bespoke training: face-to-face or online, that builds confident,
informed and compliant behaviours in relation to your practice’s AML/CTF obligations.
- At the end of any training offered by AML4LAW, your employees will:
Understand AML/CTF regulations, how it impacts their daily roles, and what their obligations are - Identify and follow practice policies and procedures in relation to AML/CTF
- Identify AML/CTF risks in terms of suspicious transactions and structures, client
behaviours and more.
Independent Review
AML Program Review
If your practice has an AML/CTF program and is covered by the regulations, you are
required to have this reviewed or evaluated by an independent person regularly.
AN AML4LAW independent review includes testing:
- How effective your AML-CTF program is
- Whether the program is in line with laws and regulations
- Whether the program has been implemented effectively; and
But the review should not just be an exercise in box-ticking compliance. Part of any review or audit, AML4LAW will look for opportunities to:
- simplify arrangements,
- reduce risk,
- enhance the client experience,

- tighten controls without additional burden
